2022

January

The New Year started off with a bang - six inches of snow New Year's Day resulting in two days not getting out of the house! We have had two more days of snow fall in Jan., but it appears the month will end with rather nice weather. Despite mail problems, we are closing in on closing the sale of the farmland in Sherman Co. Harry gave the message at Cedar Christian Church on Jan. 9th and has been invited back for the 30th. Harry chaired the board meeting of the NWKAAA on the 18th which was conducted via Zoom - principle action was review and approval of the annual audit. Willardene finally got a response from Dr. Sarin - he won't be able to perform the surgery she needs, so we now have an appointment on Feb. 22nd at the Center for Orthopedic Surgery in Lubbock - poor Ellen will have to put up with us! It has been an eventful month despite some pretty severe winter weather.

February

Other than being cold, it has been a rather uneventful month. Harry attended his monthly housing authority meeting and gave a 'Valentine's Day' message at the Cedar Christian Church on the 13th. We drove to Lubbock the 20th and 21st for Willardene's appointment - stayed there a week for tests and medical appointments. Had hoped it would be warmer in Texas, but Lubbock had low temperatures and wind that did a number on Harry's allergies. Arrived back home on the 27th, awaiting decisions and scheduling by the doctors before returning to Lubbock - at least we know they will be able to perform the needed surgery.

March

The month has started out like a lamb. For Harry's birthday, we got stuck in the church elevator - had to use a manual door release to get out. Harry attended the local housing authority monthly board meeting on the 8th. We enjoyed a nice anniversary dinner at the local bowling alley on the 11th - 61 years since the big day in 1961! March weather has varied from cold snow to days in the mid 70s and wind resulting in several days with fire danger warnings. March ended with a light snow that melted by late afternoon. Harry gave the morning message at Cedar and was ask to come back on Palm Sunday (April 10). Doctor reports from Lubbock (via Ellen) are not good - Willardene is 'high risk'- several specialists reviewing her case. She has gone back to driving a little (home to bowling alley) since the outlook for corrective surgery isn't looking good.

April

Wind has been the main weather feature the first part of April. Harry has been preparing his message for Palm Sunday. No good words yet from any of the doctors in Lubbock. Harry delivered the message on Palm Sunday at Cedar, and was ask to return on Mothers' Day As we are getting ready to go spend the last week of April in the Tyler, TX area, we received notice that the head orthopedic doctor / professor at Texas Tech Medical Center was going to see Willardene. Thus we modified our plans to include return home via Lubbock to be there for a May 2nd appointment. Our great visit to the rose garden and museums in Tyler are detailed in the 'most recent' adventure here on our website. Nothing else news worthy in April.

May

Upon arriving at Ellen's, we found a welcome letter from the doctor's office that indicated the doctor hadn't reviewed Willardene's records and images, so early Monday morning we contacted the doctor and confirmed the lack of preparation, so the visit would be a waste of time, thus with the appointment canceled, we headed home on May 3rd. The Cedar Church had only two people that could attend Mothers' Day, so services were canceled and Harry didn't have to preach, however, we were home for him to attend his monthly housing authority board meeting and Willardene to resume her weekly visits to Dr. Shelby. Not much else exciting took place in May until the end of the month - Willard came from WY., on the 28th so he and Harry could make a whirlwind two-day trip to eastern Kansas and to Oklahoma to decorate family graves. Beth and George visited Willardene briefly on Memorial Day while Harry and Willard were on the road. Willard returned to Rock Springs on the 31st. As school ended for this year, Ellen went to Port Orchard for the summer to help with Ezra's up coming medical treatment.

June

Due to skyrocketing gas prices we haven't done much traveling in June. Willard, Tiffany and the girls are coming here for July 4th week, but have advised that 50 cents plus per mile for fuel to bring the RV is not affordable, so they will come in the car and we have a cabin reserved for them. Much of our month has been Drs. appointments related - starting with a blood draw on June 10th. Dr., dentist and dermatologist visits all went well - Harry's last appointment is on the 27th. Willardene has kept up her weekly visits to Dr. Shelby and is doing as well as can be expected. We are investigating regenerative medicine (stem cell) for her but no decision or appointment yet. She says God is telling her the same as he told Paul - My grace is sufficient for you. Meanwhile, Harry gave one message (on prayer) at Cedar Christian Church this month. Our area has seen some unusually hot days for June and even got some good rains with a little hail thrown in for good measure! Ellen reports that Ezra has come through his first week of tests prior to the surgery okay - should have more details next month.
