2022
July
Another busy month, starting with the July 4th week hosting Willard and family - see latest adventure. After the kids left on the 8th, Harry got busy and finished his sermon for Sunday at Cedar. Willardene passed her eye exam on the 13th and got her driver's license renewed on the 14th. Received updates about Ezra - now Charlie has been found to be anemic, so Ezra's treatment is delayed until they get Charlie well - we sure hope God is in control as we don't understand what is going on. Harry C went to the Food Bank on the 21st for the first time in months. Harry is working on sermons for the 24th and 31st at Cedar - three messages in one month is quite a record! Sad note of the year - I found Harry C's dead body in his kitchen on July 28 - hope noone else ever has such an experience!
August
Spent the first few days making funeral arrangements - Harry C's body was cremated - memorial service held on the 8th with much of the family present and friends from Idaho present. Still working to setup an estate account and collect insurance and retirement account funds into the estate account. High note for the month - Willardene's birthday on the 18th with flowers coming in from three sources plus cards, etc. Harry is preparing a sermon for the 28th, then we will be ready to make our annual journey to Ruidoso for Labor Day week. Sunday services on the 28th canceled due to several members out of town. Left for Ruidoso, via Lubbock on the 31st.
September
Spent the 2nd thru the 8th in Ruidoso - see trip report for details. Harry attended the housing authority board meeting. Willardene got to see Dr. Shelbe twice this month. Ezra is doing well, now in out patient status. Second fall trip starts the 22nd. Nothing new i Branson this year - even the fountains at the Landing were shut down for maintenance; no new movies at the IMAX; did a lot of checking out the craft stores and brought a years supply of jellies at the Amish store, cut the trip a day short so Harry could get home to give a Sunday message at the Cedar church.
October
Harry had a dentist appointment on the 5th - found he had a tooth that needed a crown. On the 18th preparing to go to area agency on aging meeting, but Harry wasn't feeling well - didn't immediately get better, so late afternoon Willardene sent him to the ER where it was determined he had COVID for the second time. Came home and took a new EUA drug for five days and continued to rest for a couple of weeks - what a way to spend half of Oct., even had to cancel our fall trip to the Tyler Rose Garden! Both of us had an appointment with the heart clinic on the 31st - saw a PA - no problems, made appointment for next year.
November
Another month of doctors appointments - Harry visited the eye doctor and the dentist on the 15th - did the initial work on a crown for one tooth. Willardene saw the skin doctor on the 16th for a rash on her leg - told not to use the heating pad so much and given a prescription for some skin cream. We both saw a new PA at the Stockton Clinic on the 18th (she is Dr. Williams replacement). Willard and family arrived on the 22nd for a Thanksgiving visit; Ellen, Dewey and Corbin arrived on the 23rd. We vacated the kitchen while the kids prepared a grand Thanksgiving feast that we all enjoyed. Before leaving for home, the kids decorated the front of the house for Christmas - haven't had such extensive decorations in years! On the 30th we find that our refrigerator is still full of Thanksgiving leftovers!
December
This is our month for family birthdays - now have 11 birthdays and 1 wedding anniversary in Dec., so Willardene stayed busy writing letters and sending out birthday cards, as well as the annual Christmas letter. The big news for the month was that Ezra was sent home after 152 days in the hospital, his bone marrow transplant successful. His little sister, Emma Ilene, arrived on the 23rd, one day before mom's Christmas eve birthday. Ellen and Dewey were able to spend the Holiday week with the kids and welcome their new granddaughter, our first great granddaughter. Harry delivered a message at the Cedar Church on Dec. 11th, and on the 18th he had the message for the fourth advent candle at both our church and the congregational church. Christmas eve morning things took a turn for the worse as both Willardene and Harry came down with the flu bug. On the 27th, Harry spent the day in ER to be sure he wasn't having a revisit of COVID. What a way to spend the Holiday week!
